Charlie has since undertaken five cycles of high- dose chemotherapy, which also involves stem cell replacement. Bear's Den are a British alternative rock band from London, formed in 2012. The band consists of Andrew Davie (lead vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar) and Kevin Jones (vocals, drums, bass, guitar). The pioneering techniques Charlie has been fortunate enough to be treated with exist due to the outstanding research conducted by The Royal Marsden and other cancer hospitals around the world. It is a fantastic hospital and has provided both Charlie and my family with incredible care and treatment throughout the treatment. Kerry Andrew. 20. I underwent life- changing and life- saving surgery at The Royal Marsden and it is also the year that I shall attempt to run the London Marathon. As a BRCA1 carrier I have a genetic predisposition to breast and ovarian cancer, and aged 2. I became the youngest person at that time to have pioneering preventative surgery. Where I led, Angelina Jolie has followed! I turn 3. 5, the same age that my mum lost her battle with breast cancer. Whilst I inherited her love of life, mum’s natural athleticism has escaped me and I have no doubt that this 2. June 2. 01. 3!) I do however have a stubborn streak, an amazing group of supportive friends and family and a new found love of lycra and trainers on my side. I am confident that I will cross that finish line and I am hopeful that I will do so in one piece. I hope that through this run I can raise funds and give something back to the incredible Royal Marsden, paying homage to the amazing staff of surgeons, doctors, nurses, geneticists, researchers and cake makers there that have taken such great care of me and my family since 1. Aimee Watson. This is my second marathon. I've always wanted to run the London Marathon and I was lucky enough to receive a ballot place. As I got a ballot place I didn't need to raise money but I thought as I will be running 2. I chose The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity as my father suffers from a condition called CLL. This is a manageable form of leukaemia, but requires regular check ups to monitor his progress. I also know several other people who have been looked after at The Royal Marsden. Georgie Wood. I’m 2. I live in Hampshire. When I was four years old I was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma in my jaw. I was too young to really understand what this meant or how ill I was but my parents and family were the people who really had to face difficulty through this time. Not only did The Royal Marsden save my life, the team gave hope and support to my family and brother and kept my family going through an undoubtedly scary time. I will never be able to say thank you enough for what the hospital has done for me and for all the opportunities in life I have been fortunate enough to have as a result of such brilliant care. What many people don't realise is that you are a patient for life once you have had cancer and fundraising for the hospital is so important to keep this brilliant care going. I'm hoping that running the marathon will be able to generate funds to help families and sick children who are currently going through what I did.
